Romans
12:1 - I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to
present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God,
which is your spiritual worship.
After an amazing day spent in worship with our brothers and sisters of Iglesia Galilea and an evening spent in worship, prayer, and scripture reading back at our lodging facility with the team we were all excited to get to work today.
Today we hit the ground running and started work building a church building on the front of the school property that our previous Risen Life team had helped build/dig two years ago. It is an amazing privledge to return to this place and see what our partner church, Iglesia Galilea, has done.
Two years ago the building that we were standing in front of didn't exist. Students were now meeting in classrooms that were complete and it put a smile on my face to know that our church/team had a part in the blessing those students receive every day by helping to build that facility.
Our project today was to begin building the walls of the church building. The team got right down to work placing cinderblocks and fixing a brick walkway that needed repair. It felt good to worship with our work. As the day went on, walls began to take shape and our Guatemalan hosts were excited to see their church building start to become a reality. During work Tono shared that the church/school is on a main road between two towns and that this will be the first Christian church building in this area. The people that will meet in this building will be a light to two communities that need Jesus. Please join me in prayer for the people of Membrillal and Magdelena that they will be drawn to this church to hear the Gospel. Please also pray for the students attending the school. Not only do they learn about math and science but they also learn about Jesus.
To my family, I love and miss you. Thank you for allowing me to do this. I am truly a blessed man. To our church families, thank you for your prayers and your faithfulness to send us. You should be proud of the team. They have served without complaint and been an encouragement to me and to one another. Your comments have been an encouragment and we look forward to each evening when we hear from you. Pray for strength for our team and for the soothing of sore bodies.
We serve a great God who is doing great things in the lives of the Guatemalan people and our lives too. Praise God!
