Everyone
voted me as the best Christian in the group today so I get to do the
first post. But getting serious, Maria Jose and Mirna are spoiling us
with their crazy good cooking skills, the food is incredibly Bueno
(we’re all working on our Spanish) and they are taking great care of us
here at the compound. Today we got to explore San Lucas, (we checked out
some coffee shops and went on a sweet run), rested up from travel day,
and most importantly got to share Christ with the people here in a new
way that we hadn’t done before.
This afternoon we met at Iglesia Galilea to pray then we went off in groups to hand out tracts and share God’s love with the people of San Lucas. No joke there had to have been at least a couple thousand (probably more) tracts and we handed out basically all of them! We handed them out to anyone who walked by and we would tell them “Dios te ama” which means God loves you. It was so cool to me and the others in the group how kind and grateful most of the people we encountered were. Not one person rejected a tract from my group and many of the people would say thank you.
So I had a funny moment encountering a San Lucas officer. I was standing on the corner of the street with Greg and I had noticed that the officer had been looking over at us a bunch. I was hesitant to look at him because he had a shotgun strapped over his shoulder! But finally I just looked up and first thing he does is put his hand on the gun, (on the inside I am thinking “Please Lord I did not mean to make him upset”) so I smiled and said “Hola” and he nodded his head so I ran up to him and handed him a tract and he smiled and said “Gracias.” I immediately ran over to Greg and gave him a high five and said “There’s some boldness for ya!” Rollercoaster of emotions in a minute… Haha.
The best moment of the day had to be when Zak and I were standing at a corner handing out tracts and we met a man who had the best name you can have, Mateo (Matthew). We had a great conversation going with him but didn’t understand most of it because it was in Spanish, so we called Rudy over across the street to translate. Mateo was so happy for us to be talking with him he gave us all hugs and shook our hands. A couple minutes later he looked my way and started talking to me, I looked at Rudy and asked what he was saying and Rudy told me he wanted me to pray for him. It was an awesome feeling and moment to be praying for him on the street corner. After praying he started handing out tracts with us and he was a machine handing them out left and right making sure to not miss anyone that passed by.
It feels like we did so much today it is almost hard to believe that we have eight more days, I can’t wait to see how many people and opportunities God has in store for us. I Love and miss you family and friends, please keep the prayers coming because we need and appreciate them! Be sure to leave lots of comments and we'll read them to the whole group tomorrow evening.
